Tragic Shooting in San Tan Valley Leaves Teen Deceased, Suspect in Custody

A somber mood envelops the Cambria neighborhood in San Tan Valley following a tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday evening. At approximately 5:10 pm, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) received a distressing call reporting shots fired near the intersection of N Cortona Dr. and Cambria Dr.

Responding swiftly to the scene, deputies encountered a harrowing sight. A 17-year-old male, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was found suffering from a gunshot wound. The prompt action of the first responders facilitated his immediate transport to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the medical personnel, the young individual was pronounced deceased.

This incident has cast a shadow over the community, as residents grapple with the reality of such violence occurring in their midst. The PCSO has assured the public that there is no ongoing risk to the community. A suspect in connection with the shooting is currently in custody. The details regarding the suspect's identity and the circumstances leading up to the shooting have not been made public at this time.

PCSO encourages anyone with information related to the incident to come forward by calling 520.866.5111, to assist in the investigation. PCSO is also asking those with security cameras to review their footage from the hours of 4 pm-6 pm for any video of a blue Dodge Charger or similar vehicle.
